I’m a Navy veteran and former full-time photographer with experience working in the government and private sectors documenting news, lifestyle, commercial, and corporate photography assignments for use by both internal and external audiences around the world.

After a short career break from photography to serve as the Deputy Chief of Staff to the Secretary of the Navy, I retired to central Florida. As a full-time recreational photographer, I’m continuously challenging myself and striving to produce creative photographs.

Previous to retirement and my final government appointment, I worked at the Office of Naval Research in Arlington, Va., where I produced still and video products that documented how science, innovation, and cutting-edge technology benefits Sailors and Marines. Prior to that, I worked for Philadelphia Newspapers, Inc., as a photo editor and senior multimedia producer supporting Philly.com, The Philadelphia Inquirer, and Philadelphia Daily News.

Additionally, as an adjunct professor for eight years, I had the privilege to teach graduate and undergraduate photography courses at Temple University in Philadelphia and I continue to lead and participate in photo walks and workshops whenever possible.

An adventure explorer at heart, I enjoy taking pictures, discussing photography, and especially sharing what I've learned with others through my Blog and YouTube channel.

If you would like to license or purchase any of the photographs on this site, have me speak at your photography club, or would like me to participate in a workshop, don't hesitate to contact me at jfwphoto@gmail.com with the details.
