I am a full-time photographer and Navy veteran with experience working in the government and private sectors documenting news, lifestyle, commercial, and corporate assignments for use by both internal and external audiences around the world.

I currently work at the Office of Naval Research in Arlington, Va., where I produce still and video products that document how science, innovation, and cutting-edge technology benefit Sailors and Marines. Prior to that, I worked for Philadelphia Newspapers, Inc., as a photo editor and senior multimedia producer supporting Philly.com, The Philadelphia Inquirer and Philadelphia Daily News.

On every assignment I strive to produce creative, honest and marketable photographs that will best tell a story, foster brand awareness or convey a client's message.

As an adjunct professor for eight years, I had the privilege to teach both graduate and undergraduate photography courses at Temple University in Philadelphia and I continue to lead and participate in photo walks and workshops whenever possible.

An adventure-explorer at heart, I just enjoy taking pictures, discussing photography, and especially sharing what I've learned with others through my Blog and YouTube channel.

If you would like to license or purchase any of the photographs on this site, have me speak at your photography club or would like me to participate in a workshop, don't hesitate to contact me at john@jfwphoto.com with the details.

Additionally, Iā€™m available for private or small group photographic instruction in the Washington D.C., Maryland, Northern Virginia, or Orlando, Fla., regions
