14 YEARS OF PHOTOGRAPHING SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY

John F. Williams has been the senior visual information specialist at the Office of Naval Research for over 14 years. During this Distinguished Lecture Series, John shares his favorite photographs documenting S&T and shares the stories and adventures behind those images.

I recently had the honor of telling my story and sharing 14 years of photography documenting science and technology for the Office of Naval Research as part of a Distinguished Lecture Series.

It was a humbling experience and I had a blast putting the presentation together. There are so many more photographs, assignments, and stories I wish I could have shared, however the adventure is not over and I’m not done yet.

I would love to hear your feedback or answer any questions in the comments section below

PHOTOGRAPHIC ADVENTURE VLOG - SHENANDOAH NATIONAL PARK

Join me as I travel to Skyline Drive located in Shenandoah National Park for Episode 2 of my photographic adventures. It doesn't get off to a great start but ends on an up note as I come away with at least two photographs.

In episode 2 of my photographic adventure VLOG, I try my best to make some photographs in Shenandoah National Park after a very challenging start.

Even when things don't go exactly as planned, it's best to keep shooting, or at a minimum remember that whatever else, you are still in a wonderful location.

PHOTOGRAPHIC ADVENTURE VLOG - AVALANCHE LAKE

This is Episode 1 of my photographic adventures. Join me as I backpack to Avalanche Lake, located in the Adirondack Mountains, in order to photograph a sunset and sunrise. Not everything goes as planned, but I think you will enjoy the trip along with me.

In Episode 1 of the VLOG, I document my backpacking trip to Avalanche Lake located in the high peaks region of the Adirondacks. I also wrote about that trip on this Blog in a post titled: Same Lake - Three Different Photographs.

While I'm not entirely convinced there will be an Episode 2, this was something that I challenged myself to produce and I really had fun doing it.

All the video was captured using a GoPro HERO4 Silver. For support and to film myself, I used the GoPro 3-Way Grip Arm. If the price of the GoPro grip arm gives you sticker shock, check out this selfie stick from HODA, which appears to be an exact copy.
